Workshops and Training Sessions
|SEXUAL VIOLENCE PREVENTION TRAINING|
On July 7, 2015, New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo signed into legislation new mandates for sexual violence prevention on college campuses. As of October 5, 2015, colleges and universities in New York must require all student leaders and officers of student organizations recognized or registered with the institution, as well as those seeking recognition or registration, complete training on domestic violence, dating violence, stalking or sexual violence prevention prior to receiving recognition or registration.(Article 129-B, Implementation by Colleges and Universities of Sexual Assault, Dating Violence, Domestic Violence, and Stalking Prevention and Response, Policies, and Procedures.)
This is to make you aware that all organizations applying for registration or recognition after January 1, 2016 will be required to attest to completion of training for student officers. This is a standard part of the registration or renewal process. In order for your organization's registration or renewal to be complete, each student officer will have to attest to having completed the approved training.
The required training for all student officers is on-line, and takes place as part of the Contracted Independent Organization form (CIO - for independent organizations) or the Officer Statement of Compliance (OSC - for university organizations).
