Spring 2014 Lecture
Professor Backus is an expert in Industrial Organization - a branch of economics that works extensively on the Theory of the Firm to study the strategic behavior of firms (e.g. how businesses like Time Warner and Comcast align themselves in a market such as cable-providing), and how corporate strategies affect consumer welfare. Before joining Cornell in 2013, Professor Backus worked at eBay Research Labs as a postdoctoral scholar for a year. For those of you who took ECON 4610 (Industrial Organization I) in Fall 2013, Professor Backus will be a familiar face!

Fall 2013 Lecture
On Novemeber 12th the CES hosted one of Cornell's most well-respected economics faculty members, Ron Ehrenberg, for a lecture about his experience as a labor economist, an educator, and an education economist.
