Welcome

Cornell Alternative Spring Breaks Service Trips, a program of the Public Service Center, has partnered with Girls Educational and Mentoring Services (GEMS) since the spring of 2003.

In 2009, SASSY was founded by 9 students who returned from the Alternative Breaks trip to GEMS with the vision and desire of raising awareness of the issue of Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children within the United States by educating Cornell students to challenge the negative stereotypes and perceptions associated with the exploited youth.

SASSY has engaged with the Cornell campus while maintaining and strengthening its relationship with and support for GEMS. On the Cornell campus, SASSY has hosted several workshops, discussions, and movie screenings for the Cornell community.

Any person with an interest in learning about the commercial sexual exploitation of youth and who is willing to participate in the organization's events and raise awareness about the issue is eligible to become a member of SASSY.
