Why "Snodgrass and Wigglesworth?"
S & W takes its name from two of the most influential entomologists of the 20th century:
Robert Evans Snodgrass (1875- 1962) was an insect morphologist whose works, especially his Principles of Insect Morphology, laid the foundation for our understanding of many insect structures. Many anatomical drawings in modern entomology textbooks are adapted from Snodgrass.
Sir Vincent Wigglesworth (1899 -1994) was an insect physiologist who made several crucial contributions to the field of entomology, including the discovery of several important mechanisms of metamorphosis, molting, growth, and development.
