The Translator-Interpreter Program (TIP) of the Cornell Public Service Center trains bilingual and multilingual Cornell students and staff to serve as volunteer translators/interpreters for community agencies in emergency and non-emergency situations. Certified by Cornell language faculty members, our TIP translators and interpreters have been serving over 300 community agencies in Tompkins County and surrounding areas since 2000.

If you want to utilize your language skills to serve your community become part of TIP today! 

The first step to becoming a volunteer translator and interpreter is to attend a Volunteer Training Session. 

Volunteer Training Session Dates:

  • March 4, 2019, 5-6pm, Kennedy Hall 213
  • March 25, 2019, 5-6pm, Kennedy Hall 213
  • April 10, 2019, 5-6pm, Kennedy Hall 213
  • and more depending on demand!

About TIP

Translator Interpreter Program (TIP) is a student-run program that addresses the language needs of the Cornell and Ithaca communities. TIP trains its interpreters and translators for emergency and non-emergency situations in the Ithaca and Tompkins County communities. TIP seeks volunteers from the Cornell and Ithaca communities to act as translators/interpreters in emergency and on-emergency situations.
