The Triple Helix explores how science, business, and policy come together to affect society. Our club has 5 departments to give students a plethora of opportunities to merge several of their interests into one. Students can write, edit, or design for our print journal, The Science in Society Review, and online blog. They can also plan science policy, volunteer, or social events for our club members and the rest of the Cornell community. We are building as a club and always welcome newcomers! Check out our departments on the left hand menu and get involved!

Here are our exciting projects for this year that we welcome newcomers year round. You can start ANYTIME! Just email the department leader to get started.

Science policy:

For those who are interested in getting involved with the science policy department, we are introducing our new podcast project, similar to NPR! Students in this project will get to give and record short interviews to professors on their perspectives on current news. These interviews will then be posted online for the public. This is a great opportunity to bring in scholarly perspectives, and for you to know your professors better and build communications skills.

Outreach:

Early literacy: We hope to increase literacy in children. Early literacy will define the children's success in schools and this success carries through later in life. We are going to establish a partnership with a local medical center where we, as volunteers, can get the opportunity to read to children! We also plan to host book drives and clean up gently used books in our meetings.

Computer literacy: We also wish to help senior citizens to stay connected to the electronic world by hosting free workshops that teach basic computer skills. Volunteers will get to pair up with a senior one on one during our workshops to enhance personal attention and interaction.
